ESTERHAZY – The court case involving a Saskatchewan man accused of stealing tens of thousands of dollars from the Esterhazy Minor Hockey Association has been adjourned into the new year.
Esterhazy RCMP say they received a report of theft on July 30 after the organization’s general meeting minutes revealed money was missing from association accounts.
Police allege $43,000 was taken through e-transfers, along with another $3,000 in cash.
Following an investigation, Cory Smith of Esterhazy was arrested and charged with one count of theft over $5,000.
Smith was listed as the Esterhazy Minor Hockey Association’s treasurer before being removed from the position.
Smith's next court date was adjourned to Jan. 13, 2026.
