On July 1, 2025, Mounties say 37-year-old Matthew Govereau was allegedly driving on Highway 10, near Road 224 North, when his vehicle crossed the centre line, hitting a vehicle parked on the opposite shoulder, seriously injuring a 42-year-old man and 31-year-old woman in that vehicle, along with a 29-year-old man riding in Govereau’s vehicle.
All three died later in hospital.
Govereau faces a total of 19 charges, including three counts each of impaired driving causing death, dangerous driving causing death, and careless driving, as well as drug, weapon and stolen property charges.
His last known address was in Birch River, but police say Govereau is known to travel regularly throughout the province, adding he should not be approached if seen.
