I sure have noticed the days getting longer lately, and it’s amazing what a difference a bit of extra daylight can make. Last night we were at hockey in Melville, and the drive there was especially nice with some daylight still hanging around. It might not seem like much, but after weeks of dark early evenings, that extra light feels like a small win.
Even over the last week, I’ve noticed the daylight stretching further into the evening. The days are still cool, but somehow they feel more manageable when the sun isn’t disappearing so early. It just makes everything feel a little less heavy.
You can really notice the sun getting stronger too. On the weekend it was bitterly cold, but standing by the window you could feel the power of the sun. That warmth through the glass is a good reminder that brighter days are ahead, even if winter isn’t quite ready to let go yet.
As we near the end of January, it’s nice to welcome the promise of longer days and the gradual warm-up that comes with February. We’re not there yet—but we’re definitely heading in the right direction.
