LINTLAW — The Village of Lintlaw is gearing up for another election, with four candidates running for mayor and two candidates seeking the one available council seat. Election day is set for Feb. 25 at the Village of Lintlaw building.
Mayor race
Tammy Bocking
“My name is Tammy Bocking, and I’ve decided to run for Mayor of the Village of Lintlaw. I was born and raised here, but I moved away after high school. I returned in 2022 after buying my family’s home. I chose Lintlaw as my retirement community because it’s close to family and a place that holds a special place in my heart. The sense of community I was raised with drew me back home," Bocking shared.
Currently, she is a self-employed bookkeeper. She recently joined the board of directors at the Lintlaw Recreation Centre. Giving back to the community that has provided her with so much is a central motivation for her nomination, as it will allow her to contribute to the well-being of the community.
For more than 15 years, she worked with volunteer boards to foster community development. This included setting budgets, selecting contractors, managing maintenance and preserving the asset value of their communities. She said boards were consistently encouraged to prioritize effective communication and transparency, ensuring all members had a comprehensive understanding of processes and procedures.
She also co-owned a company with 15 to 25 employees. Crisis management and diplomatic communication during stressful times were crucial aspects of her job.
“The skills I’ve gained working with boards and tenants have prepared me well for the role of Mayor. I believe these skills are essential for maintaining and enhancing the lives of the people in this community,” she concluded.
Janice Nelson
"I am 57 years old and have proudly called Lintlaw my home for the past four years. In that time, I have come to truly appreciate the strong sense of community, the kindness of neighbours, and the way people here step up for one another. This Village is not just where I live – It's where I belong," she said.
"Much of my working life has been dedicated to caring for others. I have worked in all aspects of supporting individuals with disabilities, including helping design and develop homes when the government transitioned away from large institutions. That experience taught me the importance of dignity, inclusion, careful planning, and using resources wisely- values I believe are just as important in municipal leadership.
"Many of you may already know me from around the community. You may have seen me at the Community Hub sorting your mail, or perhaps you've met me at Olivia Mae Spa, where I work as a Licensed Esthetician and have had the pleasure of caring for many of you hands-on. These roles have allowed me to connect with people, listen to concerns, and build real relationships within our Village.
"If elected Mayor, my goal is to serve with integrity, transparency, and common sense. I want to work with Council and residents to maintain and improve our infrastructure, ensure responsible use of tax dollars, support thoughtful growth and encourage open communication so everyone feels informed and heard.
"I believe strong leadership starts with listening, collaboration, and respect. I am committed to working for the long-term wellbeing of our Village while preserving the character and values that make it such a special place to live.
"I would be honoured to earn your support and to serve our community as mayor."
Darcy Wojcichowsky
Wojcichowsky has resided in Lintlaw for 15 years with her partner, Carl Weinhandl, and their daughter, Rayne. They are grain farmers, which is where she devotes most of her time, with the support of her partner.
“I have a degree in Sociology and Social Work, along with many courses in human resource management. I have been employed by the Saskatchewan Health Authority for more than 20 years, gaining extensive experience across various sectors of the healthcare system, including hospital discharge planning, home care, acquired brain injury services, and managerial positions. My current position is with the Population Health team. My role involves assisting health leaders, communities, and organizations to ensure that all services are equally accessible to individuals, regardless of race, culture, income, education, age and other determinants. To do this work, I engage with communities/organizations and health care leaders to support planning and the delivery of services. This work requires data analysis, reviewing best practices, presentations and creating tools and resources,” she said.
Prior to moving to Lintlaw, she lived in Yellow Creek, Sask., where she was born and raised. Her parents were a strong influence in her life, particularly in accountability, leadership and community involvement. Both parents served on various boards and organizations.
“My mother, notably, held the position of Mayor in our community for two decades. While living in Yellow Creek, I took on various roles, including village councillor and president of the recreation board, and I was actively involved in numerous community projects such as homecoming reunions, snowmobile rallies, and fundraising events.”
Now that the family has moved through many of the growing pains of their farming operation and their daughter is more independent, Wojcichowsky said she has time to become involved again in the community.
“What do I bring to the village council? A wealth of knowledge of community dynamics, leadership that encompasses the principles of honesty, fairness, and transparency. I am trustworthy and will always have the best interests of our community as a priority. One of my goals if elected will be collaborating with council to maintain excellent water quality and maintenance of our water supply. Along with how we can ensure we can sustain this for the future. I am committed to guiding and assisting the council to guarantee that all municipal policies and procedures are properly observed and that every decision is made impartially. I assure you, I will try my best to exceed your expectations and be the mayor of our wonderful community,” concluded Darcy Wojcichowsky.

Council
Joe Hartl
Joe Hartl is running for a seat as a councillor for the Village of Lintlaw.
“I’m a retired truck driver and have a background in road construction and farming knowledge, and general homeowner and life experience in all. I’ve lived in the Lintlaw community since 1974 – where my wife “Mary” and I raised our three sons. We moved into town in 1997. If I’m voted in, I would be willing to listen to any concerns of the people in our community, as I value and respect other people’s ideas and opinions; and I would see that they were presented to the town council. This is my town as well, and I’m very proud of our town as well as knowledgeable of our town's needs.
"Budgets and spending our tax paying dollar wisely is very important, as I have a good knowledge of problem-solving and decision-making, which I take seriously. For the people that know me, I think the majority of them would say that I can stand behind my name. It is important to help out in community events, and to give back to the community, and by going on the board would be another way of me to help and give back to our community. I hope you take the time and come out to vote for me on Feb. 25.”
Carter Bragg
“I want to represent the Village and particularly the many new inhabitants, including myself. I have tabled the idea of an outdoor movie theater/basketball courts etc. that will be situated across from a family restaurant/hotel rooms. I will pay out of pocket to build this venue, and we will have family nights that are free for the surrounding villages. Watching the Roughriders, music concerts, basketball and volleyball tournaments etc. I have experience with many boards that include government and contracting. I am learning how the maintenance department operates and will jump in and help when needed. I want to join the council and help make a difference,” said Bragg.
