PREECEVILLE — The Rural Municipality of Preeceville will be hosting a one-day election on Feb. 25 to fill the vacant seat for a councillor in Div. 5.
The two individuals seeking election are Merle Mastrachuk and Ron Bilanchuk.
Merle Mastrachuk
"I have many skills that I will bring to the RM that will help benefit the RM in continuing to make it a progressive municipality. Moving forward, focusing on spending restraints, equality, fairness, transparency, believing in a team concept approach to working with my council colleagues ong with the ratepayers within the municipality and my honesty will help propel the municipality forward," he said. "I have strong management skills, equipment skills training that will benefit the RM. In running for a councillor. I want to help ratepayers bring their ideas to council. Ideas bring about success and prosperity to become a better rural municipality," Mastrachuk said.
Ron Bilanchuk
Ron Bilanchuk was born and raised in the area and took over the family cow-calf operation, continuing his family’s legacy of a four-generation farm. Throughout his life, he has worked as a Red Seal mechanic and with SaskHealth.
“My knowledge in both the private and public workforce will help me better understand and grow council and the rural municipality. I believe in open transparency, integrity, honesty, and listening to ratepayers' concerns. I won’t make promises I can’t fulfill and strive to work with the council to continue growing the RM in a positive direction. I have also held positions on numerous boards and councils through the years,” said Bilanchuk.
