SaskTel has announced that it will be winding down its 3G wireless network, effective Oct. 1, 2027.
That means that after that date, 3G wireless devices will no longer work on SaskTel’s network, as the technology becomes obsolete, and the maintenance and repair of network becomes more difficult.
As well, wireless devices that aren’t Voice over LTE (VoLTE) compatible at that time, will lose voice service access.
Leading up to the Oct. 2027 transition date, both SaskTel and Lum Mobile will be working to get 3G and non-VoLTE customers connected to their 4G LTE and 5G-5G-plus networks., which SaskTel says will allow it to offer more advanced devices, faster data speeds and more.
