WAKAW — The Ministry of Highways is planning a $2-million construction project on Highway 312 to repair a landslide geo-hazard near Wakaw, with work scheduled to begin in February 2026.
The project involves approximately 100 metres of resurfacing and the installation of sheet piles to stabilize the highway. The work site is located 12.4 kilometres west of Highway 312’s east junction with Highway 2, said the Ministry of Highways.
According to project information released by the ministry, Phase 1 of construction is set to begin Feb. 11. This phase will include the installation of sheet piles and the restoration of the excavation to a granular base surface. Phase 2 is expected to follow in the spring and will involve placing asphalt concrete pavement.
Construction is scheduled to be completed in stages, with Phase 1 targeted for completion in March 2026 and Phase 2 expected to conclude by June 2026.
Brodsky Construction Inc. of Saskatoon has been awarded the contract. Contract supervision will be provided by Associated Engineering personnel.
Motorists can expect traffic disruptions during construction. An estimated 20-minute delay is anticipated, and traffic will be detoured around the project area according to the ministry. Public traffic will be directed south from Highway 312 along Range Road 2282 to the junction with Highway 41, which will allow access to Wakaw.
The ministry advises drivers to use caution when travelling on gravel roads during the detour. Information on traffic accommodation throughout the project will be available through the Highway Hotline.
