1. “Perfect at the Whitney”
The Flin Flon Bombers continue to make the Whitney Forum the toughest building in the league.
Flin Flon improved to 22-0 on home ice with a dramatic overtime win over the Melville Millionaires. Leo Seitz scored the winner with under a minute left in overtime, preserving a perfect home record that has stood all season.
2. “Playoff Punches Secured”
Three more teams officially locked up postseason berths over the weekend.
The Nipawin Hawks clinched with a convincing 7-3 win over the Humboldt Broncos, continuing a strong late-season surge built on balanced scoring and steady goaltending.
The Yorkton Terriers reinforced their position near the top of the standings with a 3-0 shutout victory over the Broncos on Friday, maintaining control of their divisional destiny.
And the Weyburn Red Wings clinched emphatically, rolling to an 8-1 win over the Kindersley Klippers.
Nipawin, Yorkton and Weyburn now join the Battlefords North Stars and Flin Flon — both of whom secured playoff spots earlier in the month — solidifying much of the postseason bracket.
3. “Champions Charging”
The defending champion Melfort Mustangs are peaking at the right time.
Melfort extended its winning streak to eight straight games, capped by a 5-3 road win over the La Ronge Ice Wolves. Dru Mushumanski led the way with two goals and an assist, while the Mustangs’ power play continued to deliver in key moments.
Earlier in the weekend, Melfort also handled La Ronge 6-1, with Bo Eisner and Jack McHarg producing multi-goal efforts.
The champs are climbing in the standings, tightening defensively and rolling four lines effectively — the type of profile that makes them dangerous in a seven-game series, if they’re able to sneak in.
4. “Slide at the Wrong Time”
While several teams celebrated clinches, others are trending in the opposite direction.
The Broncos have now dropped four straight games, including the setback to Nipawin, placing increased pressure on their remaining schedule.
Kindersley is also mired in a four-game losing streak after being outscored heavily in Weyburn. Defensive breakdowns and special teams struggles have surfaced at a critical juncture in the season.
Meanwhile, the Millionaires’ overtime point in Flin Flon keeps them inside the playoff line for now, but the margin remains razor thin. Every regulation result over the final stretch will reshape the standings, but the Moneymen do have the games in hand thay they look to take advantage off.
