Taking a break from screens and putting on a record is one of my favourite ways to unwind. With a collection of over 200 records, there’s always something new or nostalgic to listen to. Something to match my mood and fill the room with great music, setting the perfect backdrop for some quiet downtime.
While the tunes play I’ll usually keep busy with something. Sometimes I’ll build a small Lego kit from the dollar store, which is a fun and easy project that usually lasts about an album. Other times, I tackle a sudoku puzzle (another dollar store find) challenging myself with the tougher four-star puzzles, even if it means erasing and starting over more than once.

Every so often, I’ll pull up the Wikipedia page for the album I’m spinning. I don’t really count this as “phone time” in my book, since it’s all about learning cool facts and how the album and its songs came together.
There’s something special about unwinding with music and a simple activity, letting the outside world fade away for a bit. It really is nice and calming to unplug once in a while.
