It was a championship weekend on the provincial stage for Yorkton’s Cathy Inglis.
Inglis captured the women’s title at the Curl Sask Masters Women’s Championships in Tisdale, going a perfect 6-and-0 to earn her spot as Team Saskatchewan at nationals next month.
Inglis, alongside third Joan McCusker, second Patsy Kuspira and lead Bev Fuches, dominated round robin play at 4-and-0, advancing directly to the gold medal game. In the final, Inglis built an early lead, weathered a late push from Wynyard’s June Campbell, and sealed an 8-5 victory with a deuce in the eighth end.
On the men’s side, Weyburn’s Jim Nikolejsin claimed the provincial crown, but it didn’t come without a strong showing from Langenburg’s Jeff Hartung.
Hartung handed Nikolejsin a 4-3 loss in the Page 1-2 playoff game and advanced to the championship final. However, Nikolejsin took control early in the rematch, building a 5-0 lead and eventually securing the title with an 8-1 win, leaving Hartung to settle for silver.
Nikolejsin and Inglis will now represent Saskatchewan at the 2026 Canadian Masters Championships April 6th through 11th in Grande Prairie, Alberta.
