REGINA — Premier Scott Moe is hinting that an announcement is coming soon regarding efforts to address health care in the province.
In a social media post on the X platform, Moe posted the following:
"Even though I am in India this week, we continue to work on putting patients first in health care. I will have more to say on this soon."
Accompanying the post was a picture of Moe at a desk, with a document in front of him with the words "Patients First Health Care Plan" with the subheading "Improving Access."
Access to health care continues to be a hot issue at the Legislature and is expected to be a potential focus of the 2026-27 provincial budget, due to be presented March 18.
During the previous term, the Sask Party government had rolled out the Health Human Resources Action Plan to increase numbers of health care professionals in the province.
However, there have still been issues raised at the Legislature and elsewhere about overcrowded hospitals and ERs, closures due to staffing issues, and challenges for residents in accessing primary care physicians.
While the government looks to be readying new health care plans, the opposition New Democrats have been on a health care consultation tour over the last number of months titled Your Care, Your Say. The NDP have indicated plans to release an interim report on initial findings from those consultations.
