CANORA — The Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to 35 calls from March 12 to March 19, some of which included:
- one abandoned vehicle,
- one breach of peace,
- one failure to comply with release order,
- one false alarm,
- one harassing communications,
- three Mental Health Act calls,
- one fraud under $5,000,
- one mischief under $5,000,
- one missing person,
- two possession of property obtained by crime,
- one theft of truck,
- one theft under $5,000,
- two traffic collisions,
- 14 traffic offences, and
- two wellbeing checks.
Tire slasher tracked in snow
On March 18, the Canora RCMP investigated a mischief in Sturgis. The caller reported four tires on her vehicle were slashed. Tracks in the snow led to a nearby home. Police investigated and have arrested and charged a 41-year-old man from Sturgis with mischief under $5,000.
Missed curfew costly
The Canora RCMP were dispatched on March 18 to a residence in Preeceville to investigate a report that a man was failing to comply with a curfew. Police located the man and charged him with failing to comply with a release order.
Happy end to missing person search
The Canora RCMP were dispatched to a report of a missing person on March 17. The caller reported that an 82-year-old woman vacationing in Mexico was not heard from in over a week. Police investigated and were able to determine the location and wellbeing of the woman after making a phone call to a hospital in Puerto Vallarta.
Intoxicated man leaves hospital
On March 15, the Canora RCMP were dispatched to a report that a very intoxicated man that had left the hospital in Canora. Kamsack RCMP assisted with the search and located the mansafe and sound at a residence in Kamsack the following day.
Logging truck stolen
The Canora RCMP investigated a report on March 15 that a truck was stolen from a logging site in the RCMP Preeceville. The truck stolen is a white 2002 Ford F250 with a welder located on the back of the track. Investigation ongoing.
Bad behaviour at gas station
The Canora RCMP were dispatched to a report of a disturbance at a gas station in Canora on March 15. The caller reported an intoxicated man came to the business to use the bathroom. When the man was told the bathrooms were closed, he left to urinate in the parking lot and returned to the store banging on the windows. The man left the area prior to police arriving.
