PUNNICHY — A Kelliher man charged in connection with an alleged kidnapping with a firearm has made his first court appearance.
Adrian Frank, 31, appeared in Punnichy provincial court on March 24, where he was remanded in custody to March 31 in Wynyard.
Punnichy RCMP say that on March 19, the suspect pointed a firearm at a man who was sitting in a parked vehicle outside a business in Kelliher.
The suspect ordered the victim to drive him to George Gordon First Nation.
When two people there tried to assist the victim, the suspect allegedly broke a vehicle window and deployed bear spray at them.
A search of the suspect and the vehicle turned up a sawed-off firearm, ammunition, two cans of bear spray, a machete, a baton, about 36 grams of crystal meth, 24 grams of fentanyl and six grams of psilocybin.
