YORKTON — Saskatchewan RCMP seized significant amounts of fentanyl and cocaine in a Yorkton drug trafficking investigation, leading to one arrest.
Saskatchewan RCMP’s Yorkton Saskatchewan Trafficking Response Team (STRT), assisted by the Critical Incident Response Team, carried out the operation.
On March 23, officers arrested a man in a hotel parking lot on 7 Avenue North in Yorkton as part of the ongoing investigation.
Following the arrest, police obtained a warrant and searched a room inside the hotel. During the search, officers located and seized approximately 616 grams of cocaine, 100 grams of fentanyl, a sum of cash and drug trafficking paraphernalia.
As a result of the investigation, a man from Mississauga, Ont., is charged with:
- one count of trafficking cocaine;
- one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine;
- one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking fentanyl; and
- one count of possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.
The accused appeared in Yorkton provincial court on March 24.
