We’ve been having a lot of fun with our GX94 Calving Selfies contest. The entries have been great and I’m looking forward to seeing who our lucky winner will be. Danny Ismond will have that winner’s name Monday morning on the GX94 Morning Show.
Life on the farm is no joke, especially this time of year. But one photo came in today that just stopped me.
It was sent in by a GX94 listener from Ituna, and the picture was of his wife, helping tag calves. Pretty normal for farm life, right? Except for one detail. She had their 4-week-old baby strapped to her chest.
The caption read: “4 week old Remy and mom helping tag calves.” And I just… excuse me?! FOUR weeks?!
I don’t even know what I was doing at four weeks postpartum, but I can confidently say it did not involve being outside, working cattle, and functioning at that level. And yet, there she is — baby snug against her, getting the job done like it’s just another day.
Women are unbelievable.
The strength, the resilience, the “well this needs to get done so I guess I’m doing it” mentality — it’s on another level. And it doesn’t stop. Whether it’s on the farm, at home, at work, or all three at once, moms just keep going.
And yes, yes… before anyone says it — men are amazing too. But let’s be honest women are on a whole other level, especially moms.
The way they show up, no matter how tired, how sore, how overwhelmed… they just do it. Baby in one arm (or strapped to their chest), life in the other, moving forward like it’s no big deal.
So shoutout to that mom. And shoutout to all the moms out there doing the absolute most, every single day.
You are incredible.
