We sure got another dump of snow yesterday—because of course we did. Just when you think winter might be loosening its grip, it reminds you who’s boss. But with the calendar flipping to April tomorrow, I’m holding onto a little hope that we’ll trade in some of that snow for April showers and, even better, some warmer temperatures.
Winter may still have its claws in us, but at least I’ve found a bit of an escape from it at home.
Over the years, we’ve picked up a collection of beautiful tropical plants, and I can honestly say they’ve become a bit of a lifeline during these long winter months. There’s something about seeing vibrant greens and bright blooms when everything outside is white and frozen that just lifts your mood.
One of my absolute favorites is my hibiscus plant. Lately, it’s been on a tear—blooming like it’s living in a completely different climate than the one outside our windows. Big, bold flowers that almost make you forget there’s still snow piled up outside. Almost.
It’s funny how something so simple can make such a difference. When the days feel short, the skies are grey, and winter just won’t quit, having a little indoor oasis can go a long way in fighting off those winter blues.
So if you’re feeling a bit worn down by winter, maybe consider adding a tropical plant or two to your home. You don’t need to go full jungle—but a splash of green and a pop of color might be just enough to brighten your day.
Here’s hoping April brings a little more rain, a little less snow, and a lot more signs that spring is finally on its way.
