Scrolling through YouTube Shorts, it’s hard to miss those quick, one-minute clips from random movies and TV shows. Usually, they come and go without making much of an impression, but recently one caught my eye…a scene from Juno. Before this, all I knew about Juno was that it was about teen pregnancy and it inspired a Sabrina Carpenter song. I had no idea it was a low-budget indie film that became a massive hit, earning multiple Oscar nominations and a win, plus featuring a star-studded cast. I went in curious and ended up genuinely surprised by how much heart and authenticity this film has in its story.
Juno stands out as a coming-of-age film that’s witty, grounded, and deeply human. The main character, Juno, is far from the picture-perfect teen. She’s going through her own struggles, just like any real 16-year-old might be. After facing an unexpected pregnancy, she decides to put her baby up for adoption, and her journey is filled with both humour and emotional depth. One of the film’s highlights is the dynamic between Juno and her stepmom, Bren. While their personalities sometimes clash, Bren proves to be fiercely supportive, showing just how important unconditional love and family support are during tough times.
But can we talk about Mark for a sec? From his first scene, he gave me major creep vibes, and gosh dang it, I was right. Easily the worst character in the movie. Number one Mark hater right here!

But seriously, if you’re looking for a coming-of-age film that’s funny, honest, and just plain good, give Juno a watch. It’s a story about growing up, family, love, and all the chaos in between.
You can stream Juno on Disney+
