For the first time since 2022, the Yorkton Terriers are heading to a Game 7.
They kept their season alive with a 6–3 win over the Battlefords North Stars in Game 6 of their SJHL semi-final, and they did it with a big third period push.
Yorkton got off to a strong start, with captain Tylan Henrikson opening the scoring less than four minutes in. He’s been heating up at the right time, picking up his second goal in as many games to give the Terriers the early edge.
Battlefords answered back on the power play, though, as Alessio Nardelli found space in the slot and slid it through Callum Creig to tie things up after one.
The North Stars carried that momentum into the second period. Linken Fisher gave them their first lead of the night on another power play, and a few minutes later Nardelli struck again to make it 3–1.
At that point, it looked like Battlefords might be in control—but Yorkton flipped the script in a hurry.
Just 16 seconds after falling behind by two, Drew Heil jumped on a loose puck and snapped it home to cut the lead, and not long after that, Vinay Junek brought the Terriers all the way back to tie it 3–3 heading into the third.
And from there, it was all Yorkton.
Jye Zawatsky scored what turned out to be the winner early in the third, finishing off a clean 2-on-1, and the Terriers didn’t let up. They poured it on with two more goals and completely took over the period, outshooting the North Stars 21–1 to put the game away.
Callum Creig made 26 saves for the win, while Kaeden Serpa was busy all night, facing 50 shots in the loss.
So now, it all comes down to Game 7 Wednesday night in Yorkton.
Elsewhere, the Weyburn Red Wings are also going the distance.
They stayed alive with a convincing 5–1 win over the Flin Flon Bombers, thanks in large part to a huge night from Josh Sale. He had a hat trick and an assist, leading the way as Weyburn jumped out to a 3–0 lead and never really looked back.
Flin Flon did get one back late in the second, but that was as close as they’d get.
Sale added a pair in the third to cap off the hat trick, while Joey Rocha was sharp in goal, turning aside 31 of 32 shots—including a penalty shot early that helped set the tone.
Now, that series is also headed to a winner-take-all Game 7, set for Wednesday night in Flin Flon.
