NORQUAY — A season of growth and tradition came to life on stage as Norquay Rosa Ukrainian Dance wrapped up its year with a vibrant spring concert April 19.
The annual event, held at the Norquay Communiplex, opened with the playing of O Canada and the Ukrainian anthem, followed by the presentation of bread and salt. Beginner students Ivy Prokopchuk and Chase Robb were accompanied by senior dancers Emmarie Holinaty, Graceylynn Peters, Jordyn Kazakoff and Peyton Holinaty for the presentation.
Junior dancers Brylee Chermcora, Demi Severson, Erica Abrahamson, Eve Holodniuk, Jake Holinaty, Kylie Twerdoclib, Laci Wright and Nev Challoner performed a junior Hutzul dance.

Senior dancers Emmarie Holinaty, Graceylynn Peters, Jordyn Kazakoff and Peyton Holinaty performed a Volyn and a Bukovyna.
The intermediate group of Beau Severson, Brady Holinaty, Bryden Marshall, Hank Moroz, Jake Holodniuk, Jordyn Killniak, Kinsley Twerodclib, Lexi Wright, Macey Madarash, Roy Holodniuk, Sophia Hazlett and Taylor Killniak performed a Poltava. The intermediate girls performed a Transcarpathian dance, while the boys also performed a Transcarpathian routine.
Adult dancers Amanda Holinaty, Andria Marshall, Becky Robb, Calum Livingston, Keanna Romaniuk, Nicole Wright and Ruslana Ochitwa performed Polissia and Slobozhanshchyna dances.
Kinsley, Kylie and Remi Twerdoclib performed a family Poltava dance.
The afternoon concluded with a finale Kolomeyka dance performed by all members, followed by the presentation of certificates and lunch.
“It’s amazing how quickly the season has come to an end,” said Mikaela Twerodclib, instructor. “We saw our largest registration yet this year, with new dancers joining our beginner, junior, and intermediate groups. In September, we were fortunate to host a choreography workshop with Shannon Gabrush from Saskatoon, who worked with our intermediate, senior, and adult dancers to develop some incredible pieces for the stage, while also introducing a couple of new regions to our club.
“As we head into competitions in Saskatoon and Yorkton over the next couple of weekends, it’s an exciting way to wrap up the season. I’m incredibly proud of the progress these dancers have made this year; their growth in both skill and confidence has been so great to see,” she concluded.
