3:45 p.m.
Riders kick it deep, Calgary runs it out, and that's the ball game. Calgary comes away with the 20-15 victory to open the 2026 CFL preseason.

3:43 p.m.
TOUCHDOWN ROUGHRIDERS! A 13-yard pass to Boersch gets Riders down to the 20, Schager runs left and dives in for the major with 15 seconds to play. Two point convert is no good. Eight plays, 74 yards, 20-15 with five seconds left on the clock.

3:39 p.m.
Schager finds Mcbean for a 29-yard catch down to the Calgary 45, two more incompletions and it's third and 10 with 30 seconds remaining.

3:36 p.m.
Stamps get up to own 39 before punting, Riders end up scrimmaging from own 46 with 1:17 left on the clock.

3:31 p.m.
Two pass completions and Riders are up the Calgary 48. Drive stalls, Hale tries a 56-yard field goal and it's wide right, Calgary gets the ball back on own 16 with 2:14 remaining.

3:23 p.m.
Short run and a sack by Charles and Calgary is punting. Riders end up with the ball on their own 40 at the three minute warning.

3:20 p.m.
Riders go for it on third-and-10 from the Calgary 44 and get a short catch but short of the first down. Turnover on downs, Calgary ball on their own 40 with 4:35 remaining.

3:16 p.m.
Schager has a nine-yard run to get into Calgary territory at the 50 with 6:17 to play.

3:12 p.m.
Drive stalls there, Calgary hits a 43-yard field goal to take a 20-9 lead with 9:14 remaining in the game.

3:10 p.m.
Two runs and a pass and Calgary is into Riders territory at the 49, and another good run has the Stamps at the 36 with 10:27 to play.

3:05 p.m.
A stuffed run and third sack of the game for Calgary ends the promising drive right there, Kim has a 33-yard field goal and it's good, he's 3-for-3 on the day. 17-9 Calgary with 12:38 to go in the game.

3:04 p.m.
Sexton is at it again, hauling in a pass for 20 to get down into Calgary's red zone at the 18. He's at 74 yards receiving thus far.

3:01 p.m.
Schager in at quarterback, nice pass over the middle to Sexton gets Riders up to Calgary 38 on final play of the third quarter.

2:56 p.m.
Missed tackles are adding up for the Riders, as Wooldridge runs for the first down after a near sack. Defence cleans up there, though, and Calgary settles for a 37-yard field goal. 17-6 Stampeders with 2:08 to play in third quarter.

2:52 p.m.
Calgary goes for it on third-and-two from the 40 and the Riders nearly get the stop, but it's a first down and the drive continues.

2:50 p.m.
A short pass and two runs and Calgary is into Riders territory at the 42 with 6:28 to play in the third.

2:47 p.m.
Stevens in at QB, three plays up to Riders 41, Sask punts and Calgary ends up with the ball on their own 43 after a good return by Whatley.

2:41 p.m.
Riders defence stiffens and drive stalls there, 42-yard field goal is wide right, Johnson return sets next drive up at Sask 23.

2:39 p.m.
Wooldridge in at QB for Calgary. Big pass to Ianusas gets Stamps into Riders territory at the 40,

2:36 p.m.
Riders kick off to start the second half, Calgary has the ball on their own 45.

2:26 p.m.
So's folks know, there's some nasty weather incoming in Calgary, so it's going to be a shorter halftime than normal as they attempt to get the game in before things get rough out there.

2:25 p.m.
Incomplete pass and a sack and Stamps attempt a 63 yard field goal on final play off the half. McAtamney has the leg but not the accuracy and is wide right, Wiebe returns to the 50 and that's the first half, with Calgary holding a 14-6 lead.

2:19 p.m.
Riders go two-and-out, Calgary ends up on own 49 with 24 seconds remaining.

2:16 p.m. 
Riders start their next drive from own 19, Coan is sacked for five-yard loss on first play, 51 seconds left in first half.

2:14 p.m.
Touchdown Calgary. Pass to one-yard line and Love QB run and the Stamps are in. Six plays, 64 yards, 14-6 Stampeders with 1:19 remaining in the first half.

2:10 p.m.
Riders get a sack, but the very next play a screen pass to Lynch-Adams goes for 21 yards and run by Love goes for 21 and Calgary is in the red zone at the 10 with 1:46 remaiining.

2:04 p.m.
Riders get up to own 34 but Coan is sacked for an 11-yard loss. Punt from own 23, Calgary gets ball back on own 46 with 3:44 left in half.

1:56 p.m.
Love is in at QB for Calgary and a couple of passes get the Stamps up to their own 45, but that's where the drive stalls. Punt, and the Riders are back to work on their own 20.

1:54 p.m.
Incomplete pass and recovered fumble on a huge hit on Coan and the drive stalls there. Kim has a 28-yard field goal and he's good again, 7-6 Calgary lead with 9:27 left in first quarter.

1:50 p.m.
Big catches by Janneh and Sexton get Riders down to Calgary 42, pass interference sets Riders up at 21 and Saskatchewan is in business with 10:59 left in first quarter.

1:46 p.m.
Stuffed run and short pass and Calgary is punting from own 39. Riders get ball back on own 29 with 12:50 to play in first half.

1:45 p.m.
Saskatchewan punts, Calgary ends up with the ball on own 33.

1:43 p.m.
Penalty pushes Riders back to own 27, screen pass to Anderson gets Sask back up to 35, and that's where the first quarter comes to an end, with Calgary holding a 7-3 lead.

1:40 p.m.
Calgary goes two-and-out, Riders get the ball back on their own 42.

1:37 p.m.
That's where the drive comes to an end, Kim has a 45-yard field goal attempt that's right down the middle, 7-3 Calgary with 1:50 to play in the first quarter.

1:35 p.m.
Riders are having a heck of a time hanging on to passes, but Calgary extends the drive with penalties, up to the Stamps 37.

1:32 p.m.
Short pass and penalty-aided run and Riders are up to midfield.

1:31 p.m.
Riders get the ball back at their own 38 to start their next drive.

1:29 p.m.
Oof, touchdown Stampeders. Adams eludes the rush, has all day and night to get off a deep bomb, finds Philpot completely wide open at the Riders 30, and he goes the rest of the way for the major. 7-0 Calgary with 5:38 to go in the opening quarter.

1:22 p.m.
Calgary interception. Riders get up to the Calgary 37, but a tipped pass ends up in the hands of the Stamps' Wilson. Calgary ball on their own 40. Feels like a bit of bad luck to end a promising drive.

1:20 p.m.
Couple of big runs by Coan and Anderson and Riders are up to midfield with 9:01 remaining in the first quarter.

1:18 p.m.
Interception Riders! Three plays get Calgary down to Riders 42 and Adams Jr. airs one high and deep into double coverage in the Riders end zone, Lokombo comes down with the ball. Riders have the ball on the Sask 30 after the first pick of the pre-season!

1:11 p.m.
Sask gets a first down but drive stalls out two plays later, Mirco gets off a boomer of a punt, 77-yards through the side of the end zone. That's the first taste of the new rules, as Saskatchewan would be up 1-0 after a rouge, but no single points anymore for punts or kickoffs that go through the end zone.

1:09 p.m.
Kickoff is up, Riders get the ball for the first time at the 35, and Jack Coan has the ball behind centre.

1:08 p.m.
Weather outlook has changed dramatically in the last couple hours, as evidenced by the dark clouds all around McMahon. Light rain in the city, and now a 30 per cent chance of showers throughout the afternoon.

1:05 p.m.
Riders win the coin toss, they defer to the second half. Minutes away from kickoff!

12:57 p.m.
Luc's three keys to the game are all about playing pre-season football and aimed at players aiming to crack the line-up:

Alignment – do you know where to line up?
Assignment — do you know what to do when you're lined up?
Execution — can you make the play when you're lined up and know what to do?

Players who can do all three will have a great chance of a positive evaluation, and that could land a them a job in a couple weeks' time.

12:46 p.m.

11:12 a.m.
It's shaping up to be a nice spring day in Calgary, with temperature around 12 C at kickoff and relatively calm winds of 15 km/h out of the south west. There's a 30 per cent chance of rain late in the game. And no chance of the game being delayed by smoke!

11:09 a.m.
A long first week of training camp is only a short time away from coming to a head for the Saskatchewan Roughriders as they take the field for their first pre-season game of the 2026 Canadian Football League campaign.

The Riders are at McMahon Stadium in Calgary to take on the Stampeders in their first game since winning the 2025 Grey Cup back in November, but it’ll be a far different looking team compared to that championship-winning crew.

Both Saskatchewan and Calgary are going with a rookie-heavy line-up, as one might expect from the first exhibition game, and you can expect to see a whole lot of new faces cycling in and out of the line-up all afternoon.
