The La Ronge Ice Wolves are bringing back one of the most successful figures in franchise history.
The club announced that longtime SJHL coach Bob Beatty has been named the team’s general manager heading into the 2026-27 season.
Beatty is well known in La Ronge after spending nearly a decade behind the Ice Wolves bench, helping lead the organization to back-to-back SJHL championships in 2010 and 2011 — the only league titles in team history.
The 71-year-old rejoined the organization late last season in an interim coaching role after Kevin Kaminski stepped away from the club. Kaminski and the Ice Wolves later officially parted ways during the offseason.
Originally from La Ronge, Beatty has built an extensive junior hockey resume over more than 30 years, including coaching stops with the Humboldt Broncos, Cowichan Valley Capitals, Nanaimo Clippers, and Fort McMurray Oil Barons. He also guided Humboldt to a national RBC Cup championship in 2003.
Beatty was inducted into the SJHL Hall of Fame in 2022 and now returns to help guide an Ice Wolves team looking to rebound from a difficult season.
La Ronge has yet to announce who will serve as head coach for the upcoming campaign.
