WEYBURN — A severe wind storm has forced the City of Weyburn to cancel a major community event planned for next week, as municipal crews remain fully engaged in cleanup and recovery efforts.
The City of Weyburn has cancelled the Public Works and Emergency Services Open House that was scheduled for May 20, after last Thursday’s wind storm caused widespread damage across the community.
City officials said the decision was made as crews continue to manage fallen trees, debris, and infrastructure impacts while also maintaining essential services.
In a statement, Friday the city said that the event won’t be rescheduled because the Public Works and Emergency Services staff are prioritizing storm response, with all available resources directed toward cleanup operations and keeping regular services running smoothly.
