The Saskatchewan Roughriders have added a pair of Americans to their roster, signing receiver J.J. Hester and defensive back Steven Weston Jr. on Monday.
Hester, a 6-foot-5, 201-pound receiver, spent time at the University of Missouri, the University of Oklahoma and the University of Kentucky during his collegiate career.
The Florida product averaged 19.1 yards per reception over 46 collegiate games. In 2025 with Kentucky, Hester recorded eight catches for 117 yards and four touchdowns. The previous season at Oklahoma, he posted 315 yards on 14 receptions, including a 90-yard touchdown catch that tied for the second-longest reception in Sooners program history.
Overall, Hester finished his college career with 35 receptions for 670 yards and seven touchdowns.
Weston Jr., a 6-foot, 185-pound defensive back, played four seasons at Ouachita Baptist University.
The Arkansas native earned First-Team All-Great American Conference honours in 2025 after recording three interceptions and eight pass deflections in 11 games. He was also named to the Division II Conference Commissioners Association All-Region Second Team.
Over his collegiate career, Weston Jr. totalled 141 tackles, six interceptions, 36 pass deflections, five tackles for loss, one sack and two forced fumbles.
The Roughriders also moved national defensive lineman Lake Korte-Moore to the one-game injured list and released American offensive lineman Darius Washington.
