REGINA — The latest batch of severe thunderstorms to sweep through the province resulted in outages for SaskPower.
In an email to SaskToday, Joel Cherry, a media relations and issues management consultant with SaskPower, said approximately 9,250 customers experienced an outage during the storms. Included in the total were 3,250 customers in Regina. Outages also occurred in the Fort Qu’Appelle, Carlyle, Estevan, Moosomin and Sturgis districts. He added a very small number of scattered customers are still without service.
The most significant outage took place in the Carlyle area, affecting 1,200 customers for six hours, Cherry said.
"All of Manor and 90 per cent of Carlyle had an outage, with some customers in the south end of Carlyle not affected," he said.
He thanked customers for their patience as SaskPower works to restore electricity as quickly and safely as possible.
Cherry added there is the potential for planned outages as damage assessments continue. SaskPower will provide notice on its website and X account if these are necessary.
