CANORA – The Canora Supers continued their lengthy road trip to start the season, travelling to Melville on June 9 to take on “the always tough Parkland Pirates.” Supers Coach/Manager Greg Andreychuk said both teams struggled early on defence, each committing several uncharacteristic miscues in the field as the Pirates led 2-1 after one inning. But that would be the last of the scoring for the Pirates in this game.
“The Supers erupted for four in the second inning, courtesy of a run-soring single by Jordan Auger,” said Andreychuk. “That was followed by a two-run triple by Kody Rock, and another run scored on a single by Kholton Shewchuk to give the Supers a 5-2 lead. This was plenty of support for perennial ace pitcher Kody Rock to work with, as the Supers cruised to a 6-2 win.”
Rock led the way for the offence with a single, double, triple, two runs scored and two driven in. Dylan Toffan had two singles and an RBI. Shewchuk, Auger and Braden Kitchen each had a single.
“Rock went all seven innings on the hill, allowing two unearned runs, seven hits and racking up eight strikeouts to pick up the win,” said Andreychuk.
After the big win, the Supers sit at three wins and one loss on the season. Next up on the schedule is another trip to Melville to take on those same Pirates on June 18.
The Pirates then make the trip to Canora to battle the Supers at Al Sapieha Field on June 23.
