CANADA — Three popular Thermos products are being recalled following three reports of injury.
The Thermos Stainless King Food Jars with model numbers SK3000 and SK3020 and the Thermos Sportsman Food & Beverage Bottle with model number SK3010 are included in the recall as the stoppers do not have a pressure relief in the centre. If perishable food or beverages are stored in the container for an extended period of time, the stopper can forcefully eject when opened, posing serious impact injury and laceration hazards. As of June 24, Thermos has received 10 reports of incidents in Canada, and three reports of injuries.
The King Food Jars were manufactured before July 2023 and the Sportsman Food & Beverage Bottle was discontinued in 2016. The containers were cold in a variety of colours in sizes 16-oz (470 ml), 24-oz (710 ml) and 40-oz (1.2 l). More than 1.2 million units of the affected products were sold in Canada. The Thermos trademark is located on the side of the product, and the model numbers are printed on the bottom.
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled products and visit the Canadian Thermos Products Inc. website for more information. The Canada Consumer Product Safety Act prohibits recalled products from being redistributed, sold or even given away in Canada.
