STENEN —The little Village of Stenen kicked off Canada Day in grand style by serving pancakes and sausage to 225 hungry community and area members.
The village has a population of approximately 90 residents and is located approximately 25 km east of Preeceville along Highway 49.
The community volunteer fire department, assisted by many other community volunteers, was responsible for preparing and serving the breakfast. The proceeds went towards helping fundraising efforts for the new playground equipment and the addition of a new bench.
“It’s honestly one of my favourites of the year, even though it’s a lot of work. We had an amazing crew this year, one of the best,” stated Stacy Anaka, organizer. “Thank you to all those that came out. We had a lot of new faces this year and of course we have those that this is a family tradition. We appreciate you all. Huge thank you to all the Stenen Volunteer Fire Department and the helpers, big and small; we couldn’t do it without you!
The winner of the 50/50 was Richard Morken, taking home $207.
Special shout-out to Thristy Dogz and Gateway Coop for their continued support,” she concluded.
