HUDSON BAY — Several highways in northeastern Saskatchewan remain closed Wednesday after heavy rainfall caused flooding, washouts and infrastructure damage, according to Saskatchewan's Highway Hotline.
Motorists are being urged to avoid affected areas, obey barricades and use alternate routes until conditions improve.
As of the latest Highway Hotline updates, the following closures remain in effect:

Highway 980 is closed in both directions from Highway 3 to approximately 14.5 kilometres south of Highway 3 because of water over the roadway. Saskatchewan Highways Hotline said all lanes are closed and motorists should use an alternate route. The closure was first reported June 30 at 6:56 p.m. and was last updated at 9:46 p.m.

A separate closure remains in effect on Highway 980, approximately 14.5 kilometres south of Highway 3, where water has also covered the roadway. The closure was reported June 30 at 6:53 p.m.

Highway 982 is closed in both directions from Highway 983 to the Parr Hill access because of a washout. Barricades are in place, and drivers are asked to use an alternate route. The closure was first reported June 30 at 12:20 p.m. and last updated July 1 at 8:12 a.m.

Highway 49, about three kilometres west of Pelly, remains closed in both directions after flooding caused a culvert failure. Police are on scene, barricades have been installed and motorists are advised to use an alternate route. The closure was first reported June 30 at 3:36 a.m. and was last updated at 9:45 p.m.
Drivers are encouraged to check the Highway Hotline for the latest information on highway conditions and closures before travelling, as conditions can change quickly following significant rainfall.
