CRYSTAL LAKE — The Crystal Lake Recreation Committee will once again be providing a fun-filled weekend from July 31-Aug. 2.
This is the committee’s 40th annual fun in the sun event and will headline a beach concert with music by Dangerous Cheese. The 1980s-themed party encourages individuals to come dressed in neon colours, big hairstyles and workout wear.
Aug. 1 will be filled with relay races, a farmer’s market, beach volleyball, horseshoes, bocce ball, corn hole and pickleball. A summer farmers market, and a petting zoo and train will also be held in conjunction with the other events.
The relay racing will kick off with children under six in a water obstacle course and run, followed by under-10 aged children competing in a swim, flipper obstacle course, and the run, concluding with children aged under 15 in a swim, kayak race, and run. There is also an open race and a 50-plus masters' race that will feature paddle boarding and a flipper race, and bicycling.
Food vendors on site will beTwo22coffee stand, Maggie’s BBQ, Bubble Tea and Papa R mini donuts with freshly-made lemonade.
