BLACKFALDS, Alta. — The Southeast Steelers dynasty in Canadian women's fast pitch continues.
The Carnduff-based team defeated the host Blackfalds Bandits 4-2 on Aug. 9 to win the Softball Canada 2026 Women's Canadian Fast Pitch Championship for the fourth consecutive year.
The Steelers went 7-0 during the round robin, outscoring their opponents 70-11, and 9-1 during the tournament, which ran from Aug. 5-9 in Blackfalds. They opened play Aug. 5 with an 11-0 win over Ontario's Aurora Diggers and then had one of their closest wins, 4-0 over Equipe Quebec Senior.
Then they rattled off four straight convincing wins: 14-1 over the Calgary Black Sox and 12-2 over the Mississauga Southwest Hurricanes on Aug. 6, and 10-0 over the Calgary Kaizen and 9-1 over the Saskatchewan Prairie Pirates the following day.
They wrapped up the round robin Aug. 8 with a 10-7 win over the Bandits in the first of three meetings between the two teams. They met again in a playoff game for the top two clubs in the round robin, which the Bandits won 4-1.
The loss put the Bandits in the final and the Steelers in the semifinal against Quebec, a game the Steelers won 5-3 to advance to the final.
Jorde Chartrand struck out 13 batters for the Steelers against the Bandits in the final, which was a seven-inning game.
