CANORA – In what has rapidly become a much-looked-forward-to tradition since the opening of the Canora Aquatic Park, the facility hosted its annual pool party on Aug. 6.
The 150-or-so people didn’t seem to mind the gusty Saskatchewan wind at all, as the various fun activities all appeared to be very well attended.
“The turnout was great in spite of the weather,” said Ava Love, pool manager. “We had a super cool inflatable obstacle course, a foam cannon that all the kids seemed to love, as well as a free barbecue and popsicles sponsored by Gateway Co-op.”
Unfortunately, it was just too windy for the planned Slip ‘n’ Slide activity.
Love said it’s been another busy and enjoyable summer at the pool so far.
“Things have been going so great this summer, many days have been hot so attendance has been through the roof.”
For anyone who couldn’t make it to the pool party, or just didn’t seem to get enough time in the pool, Love said there is still more fun to look forward to as the summer rolls on.
“On the 15th of August we are holding a free swim from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., we always do sporadic diving board contests, and I’m sure we will be bringing out the foam canon, and Slip ‘N’ Slide another day this year so look out for that!”
Love advises swimmers to take advantage of any opportunities to come out to the pool in August, since the last day of public swimming in 2026 is set for Aug. 30.
“Always check out our Canora Aquatic Park Facebook Page for fun activities, themed aquafit sessions, and free swims we might be doing that day.”
