ESTEVAN — Aug. 10 was a special day for an Estevan woman.
Hannah Fichter celebrated her 100th birthday at her home in Hill View Manor, with family and friends dropping by to help her mark the milestone.
Her daughter-in-law Susan Fichter noted Hannah lived most of her life on a farm 25 kilometres northeast of Estevan. Eventually, Hannah moved to a house in Estevan and then to a condo. Hannah lived in the unit on her own until a couple of months ago, and is now at Hill View.
Susan noted that Hannah played Bingo, bowled and even drove until the later years of her life. Hannah is also a die-hard Toronto Blue Jays fan, and one of the gifts for Hannah's 100th birthday was a jersey of her favourite Toronto Blue Jays player, catcher Alejandro Kirk, for her to wear when she watches the games.
Susan added that when Kirk comes up to bat, Hannah intently sits close to the TV so she can watch him.
