YORKTON — Venvi The Bentley Yorkton Retirement Living is preparing to celebrate a quarter-century of service with a community event this weekend featuring live entertainment, family activities and a fundraiser for the Salvation Army.
The retirement residence will mark its 25th anniversary on Saturday, Aug. 15, with festivities running from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
The celebration will include a barbecue lunch, live music, games, horse-and-carriage rides and visits with farm animals as organizers welcome residents, families, staff, volunteers and members of the public.
Live entertainment is scheduled throughout the afternoon, with Racheal Danscock performing from noon to 1:30 p.m. and James Betts taking the stage from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Family-friendly activities will include a balloon pop, water balloon toss and other games, along with opportunities for visitors to interact with animals and enjoy wagon rides.
As part of the anniversary celebration, the Bentley will also host a fundraiser in support of the Salvation Army. The event will feature a "pie in the face" activity involving management and staff, with proceeds benefiting the charitable organization.
The Bentley Yorkton opened in 2001 and is celebrating 25 years of serving seniors in the community. Organizers say the event is intended both as a celebration of the residence's history and as an opportunity to thank the community for its support over the past quarter-century.
The anniversary festivities are open to the public.
