CANADA — Grill masters across Canada will need to inspect their grill brushes, as Health Canada has issued a recall for metal wire-bristled grill brushes found in two different Cuisinart grill tool sets.
According to Health Canada, small metal wire bristles can detach from the brushes and stick to grilling surfaces or food, posing an ingestion hazard and risking serious internal injuries that could require surgery.
The grill tool sets affected by the recall are as follows:
Cuisinart 10-piece grill tools – wooden handles: UPC 890084002799 SKU 611997
Cuisinart 20-piece grill set – stainless steel handles: UPC 817096012967 SKU 520486
These sets have been sold between December 2017 and March 2026. Crate & Barrel Canada Inc. reports that 679 units were sold in Canada, and as of Aug. 26, no incidents or injuries have been reported.
Those who have the recalled product are to stop using the grill brushes and contact Crate & Barrel Canada for a refund.
For more information, consumers can contact Crate and Barrel Canada by telephone at 800-451-8217, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. CDT, Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. CDT Saturday and Sunday or by visiting the company's website.
