CANORA, SASK.- Residents in the area just north of the railroad tracks in Canora received a shocking surprise during the morning of Wed. Sept. 2 when a fire broke out at 250 Northern Avenue.
Canora fire chief Jess Harper said they were notifiied at 8:51 a.m. Eight members of Canora & District Fire Rescue responded to the call.
“A camper trailer was on fire,” said Harper. “Active flames coming through the roof and windows, there was lots of dark black smoke.”
Thankfully, the fire did not spread to any other structures and vehicles, and there were no injuries reported, however, “the camper will have to be written off,” said Harper.
CDFR members were on the scene for approximately one-and-a-half hours.
An investigation into the fire is underway. The Canora RCMP, which also had a presence at the scene of the fire, indicated that the fire is not suspicious, and may have started from a smoldering cigarette.
