LIVE BLOG: Saskatchewan Roughriders at B.C. Lions

11:11 p.m.
Saskatchewan tries a hook-and-ladder to get something going, but nothing doing. That's the game. Unconnected football and an inability to handle Nathan Rourke much of the game leads to a 31-24 Riders loss. B.C. is now tied for second with Saskatchewan at 8-6 and have won the season series two games to one.

11:09 p.m.
Riders get the ball back on their own 52 with three seconds to play.

11:07 p.m.
A penalty pushes B.C. back to the Riders 52 and they get back six yards before punting with 14 seconds remaining.

11:04 p.m.
Lions grind out a first down up to the Riders 42, 1:34 remaining in the game.

11:03 p.m.
Onside kick attempt is caught by B.C. and they start their next drive from the Riders 54 with two minutes to play.

11:01 p.m.
TOUCHDOWN ROUGHRIDERS. Ouellette plunges in from the two and Stevens has a two-point convert. Seven plays, 63 yards, 31-24 with 2:03 to play in the game.

11:00 p.m.
Catches by Schaffer-Baker for 15 and KeeSean for 12 and eight yards get the Riders up to first and goal with 2:18 remaining.

10:57 p.m.
Letcher has a nice return to get the Riders set up at the B.C. 47. 2:50 to play in the game.

10:56 p.m.
Touchdown B.C. Rourke is almost sacked but avoids three tacklers and gets free before finding McInnis for a 59-yard gain to the Riders 11. Then Rourke avoids the rush on the next play and finds Jackson for the major. What was that about containing Rourke? 31-16 B.C. with 2:58 remaining.

10:52 p.m.
Drive stalls at the B.C. 24, Hodge has a 32-yard field goal and it's good. 23-16 B.C. with 3:59 to play.

10:48 p.m.
A 17-yard run by Ouellette and the Riders are at the B.C. 25. with five minutes to play. Time is not n the Riders side here.

10:47 p.m.
Lions go two and out again and punt from five yards deep in their endzone. Riders ball on the B.C. 42 with 6:35 to play.

10:43 p.m.
Riders go two and out, punt, B.C. gets the ball back on their own 10 after a penalty. Now the defence is playing well and the offence can't get anything going. What's that about playing connected football?

10:40 p.m.
B.C. gets up to their own 32 but Rourke is sacked for a five-yard loss and the Lions punt. Riders get the ball back on their own 38.

10:35 p.m.
Run for no yards and an incompletion that was almost intercepted and the Riders punt. B.C. ball on their own 13. 12:06 to play.

10:32 p.m.
A short run and pass and the Lions are punting from their own one. Riders finally get a stop and scrimmage from midfield to start their next drive. That was only the second punt of the game for B.C., btw. 13:26 left in the game.

10:26 p.m.
Riders go for it on third down on third and two from the B.C. nine, but Stevens is stopped on the final play of the third quarter. That's a turnover on downs, and things are starting to spiral on Saskatchewan now. B.C. ball on their own eight to start the fourth quarter.

10:23 p.m.
Ouellette and Harris each have six yard runs to get to the 17.

10:21 p.m.
Johnson has a 15 yard catch over the middle and the Riders are up to the B.C. 29.

10:20 p.m.
DDB and Johnson have catches to get up to the B.C. 44. 5:28 left in the third quarter.

10:16 p.m.
Touchdown B.C. Cottoy beats his man at the goalline and gets across for the 11-yard major. Seven plays, 92 yards, 23-13 B.C. with 7:26 to play in the game. Riders defence just doesn't have any answer for the Lions offence.

10:13 p.m.
Rourke runs for 13 yards to get up to the 39, Hatcher has a 13 yard catch up to the 26, Jackson a 12 yard catch up to the 14.

10:12 p.m.
McInnis has another big play catch over the middle for 38 yards to get up over midfield to the Riders 52. Coach Mace immediately challenges for offensive pass interference. It's unsuccessful and a B.C. first down.

10:05 p.m.
Riders get up to their own 46 but the drive stalls there. Punt, Lions get the ball back on their own 17 to start their next drive. 11:49 remaining in the third quarter.

10:03 p.m.
A great leaping catch by KSB over a B.C. defender gets the Riders up to their own 35. 13:04 left in the third quarter.

10:01 p.m.
Riders get the ball on their own 22 to start the second half. 

9:47 p.m.
Offence has looked good, but the defence is going to have to pick it up in the second half. Get the sense this one is going to come down to who makes the better halftime adjustments. 

9:42 p.m.
Riders kneel twice and we're into halftime with the Lions holding a 17-13 edge. 

9:40 p.m.
Touchdown B.C. A 14 yard catch to McInnis gets the Lions up to the 19 and Hatcher finishes off the drive with the touchdown catch. Six plays, 69 yards, 1:34 off the clock. 17-13 B.C. with 16 seconds left in the half. 

9:37 p.m.
Cottoy has a 14-yard catch to get into Riders territory at the 51, then has a 19 yard catch to get up to the 32 with 1:18 left in the half.

9:34 p.m.
B.C. gets the ball back on their own 40 to start their next drive.

9:31 p.m.
TOUCHDOWN ROUGHRIDERS! Harris finds Djete wide open on the sidelines at the six, and he walks in untouched for the major. Nine plays, 70 yards, 13-10 Saskatchewan with 2:10 left in the opening half.

9:29 p.m.
Stevens easily gets the first down and Riders are in the red zone at the B.C. 18 with 2:50 left in the half.

9:26 p.m.
Ouellette has runs for six and four yards and it's third and inches at the B.C. 23 at the three-minute warning.

9:24 p.m.
Johnson has a 13-yard catch, Riders are up to the B.C. 29. 4:15 left in the half.

9:23 p.m.
KeeSean has a 11-yard catch and Ouellette an 11-yard run and to get up to the B.C. 38.

9:19 p.m.
B.C. attempts to go for it on third and goal from the one but take a timecount violation. Whyte has a 14 yard field goal and it's good. 10-6 B.C. with 7:10 left in the first half.

9:16 p.m.
Cottoy has a catch on a screen and gets up to the Riders 20 with 9:30 to play in the half and then a catch for 13 yards to get up to the eight.

9:14 p.m.
Rourke has runs for 17 and seven yards to get up to the Riders 35.

9:11 p.m.
Ouellette is stopped for a seven-yard loss and Hodge is on for a 31-yard field goal. It's good and it's 7-6 B.C. with 14:05 to play in the first half.

9:06 p.m.
Runs for 17 and four yards by Ouellette get the Riders up to the B.C. 16. Second and six in the red zone at the end of the first quarter.

9:05 p.m.
Djete for 12 yards, KSB for 29 yards and the Riders get all the way back for the first down up to the B.C. 37. 1:02 left in the first quarter.

9:02 p.m.
Back-to-back holding penalties push the Riders back to their 41. No comment. 

9:01 p.m.
A fingertip pass breakup on a deep ball to KeeSean by Carter Jr. saves a huge play, but a short pass to KSB and run by Stevens gets the Riders up to the B.C. 49 with 3:48 left in the first quarter.

8:55 p.m.
Touchdown B.C. Well that wasn't good. Berryhill has a 56-yard catch to get to the Sask 14 and one play later Hatcher gets just inside the goalline for the touchdown catch. Two plays, 70 yards, 7-3 B.C. with 6:14 left in the first quarter.

8:51 p.m.
Ah darn. Harris attempts to find KSB in the back of the end zone, but it goes off the upright. Hodge is on for a 27-yard field goal. He makes the chip shot and it's 3-0 Saskatchewan with 7:13 left in the opening quarter.

8:49 p.m.
DDB snares a pass over the middle and Sask is up to the B.C. 22.

8:48 p.m.
KeeSean beats his man down the sideline and goes for 30 yards on second down up to the B.C. 38 with 10:36 left in the first quarter.

8:45 p.m.
KeeSean has a nice run on a screen pass and goes for 27 yards up to the Riders 39.

8:43 p.m.
A stuffed run and incomplete pass and that's where the drive stalls, and the Riders get the ball back on their own 12 to start their first series of the night. 12:18 left in the first quarter.

8:41 p.m.
Berryhill has a 24 yard catch to get the Lions up to midfield on the second play of the game.

8:36 p.m.
The Lions get the ball first to start the game after the coin toss.

8:31 p.m. 
The teams are on the field, kick-off is minutes away!

8:29 p.m.
Here are Luc Mullinder's Three Keys to the Game:

1 – Lions are running, be run stoppers. The defensive line and linebackers have to be solid and continue with their run-stopping abilities. Get the stop on first down and force second and long.

2 – Make the B.C. have a long field. Return teams for B.C. have been struggling, so take advantage of them and make them have to go as far as possible on every drive.

3 – Nathan Rourke has to throw from the pocket. Have to have a balanced pass rush, keep Rourke in the pocket and force him to use his second and third reads. Force him to make mistakes.

5:31 p.m.
The Rider Broadcast Network is on the air. Teagan Witko and Wes Cates will have plenty of special guests in the lead-up to the contest, followed by Dave Thomas and Luc Mullinder with the game call at 8:30 p.m.

5:30 p.m.
The final stretch of the CFL regular season begins tonight for the Saskatchewan Roughriders, and it starts with a crucial West Division match-up against the B.C. Lions.

The Green and White come into the contest with an 8-5 record and in second place in the West Division, and that’s a single win ahead of the 7-6 Lions and Blue Bombers. As a result, Saskatchewan can pull away from the pack with a victory at B.C. Place tonight or find themselves in a complete logjam with a loss.

Oh, and the Riders can clinch a playoff spot with a win tonight and a Winnipeg and Calgary loss in their respective games this weekend.

Saskatchewan will have some reinforcements as they attempt to do so, as standout running back A.J. Ouellette, potential 1,000-yard receiver Kian Schaffer-Baker and fullback Albert Awachie all return to the line-up from injury. Malcolm Bell also gets his first career start at defensive back.

On the other side of the field, the Lions will once again look to Nathan Rourke to lead the offence, with Xander Horvath as the feature ball carrier and Keon Hatcher Sr. and Justin McInnis each chasing 1,000 yards receiving on the season.

The defence has been hit by suspensions and injuries, with Josh Hagerty and Ronald Kent Jr. both banned for actions in their previous outing against Montreal and C.J. Coldon out with an illness. They do have some help, though, as Robert Carter Jr. resigned with the team after being released by the Indianapolis Colts.

It’s the third and final meeting between the two teams, with Saskatchewan having taken a 31-27 victory back in Week 2 at Mosaic Stadium and the Lions prevailing when the teams rematched in Week 12 a month ago.

It should be an interesting one, so be sure to tune in!
