KAMSACK, Sask. — A new business has been opened in the Petro-Can convenience store at 601 Queen Elizabeth Boulevard in Kamsack.
Kam-Vape, an adult-only specialty vapour product retailer, opened on Sept. 2 in a small, separate 70-square-foot room in the main building.
Priyal Petel is the managing partner of a group of four partners who own the business that includes the Petro-Can outlet with convenience store and car wash, along with the Kamsack Pizza and Grill, a U-Haul dealership and Kam-Vape.
Petel, who came to Canada from India 12.5 years ago, obtained his Canadian citizenship in 2024. He said most of the staff at the convenience store are being trained to work in the vape shop. The shop is adult-only and customers must be 19 years or older to enter and purchase vapour products. Customers enter through a separate door from the outside. If the door is locked, an eligible customer may ask an employee at the convenience store for access.
The business is open Mondays to Fridays from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Petel said he spoke with members of the community before opening the business to better understand local demand. He said the business was opened partly in response to local demand, as residents previously had limited access to a specialty vapour product retailer in the area.
