The Yorkton Terriers claimed the first Highway 10 battle of the regular season Friday night, earning a 3-1 win over the Melville Millionaires.
After a scoreless opening period, Yorkton struck just 48 seconds into the second as Matthys Morrissette buried his fifth goal of the season to make it 1-0.
The Mils answered just over a minute later when Torren Budgell’s point shot found its way through traffic and into the net for his first SJHL goal, tying the game at one.
In the third, former Millionaire Alex Morrison scored the eventual game-winner, sneaking a shot past Noah Kraus to put the Terriers back in front. Nathan Ramos added insurance with a breakaway goal with 8:47 remaining to seal the 3-1 victory.
Callum Creig made 25 saves on 26 shots for Yorkton, while Kraus stopped 28 of 31 shots in the loss for Melville.

The Flin Flon Bombers blanked the Estevan Bruins 5-0, getting a 24-save shutout from Finn Werner. Dylan Caron, Ryder Mucha, Seth Castronuovo, Rhett Ewen and Hudson Brehaut scored for the Bombers. The teams meet again Saturday in Flin Flon.
In Nipawin, Mason Karakochuk and Mason Lowther scored twice each as the Hawks improved to 3-0 on home ice with a 7-3 win over the Humboldt Broncos.
The Melfort Mustangs picked up a 2-0 road win over the Battlefords North Stars. Nick Kotai stopped all 32 shots he faced, while Luke McKenzie and Matthew Bertolin scored third-period goals.
In Air Ronge, the Weyburn Red Wings earned their second straight win, beating the La Ronge Ice Wolves 5-2. Nate Stevens made 17 saves, and five different players scored for Weyburn.
The Kindersley Klippers handed the Warman Wolverines their first regulation loss since opening night, earning a 3-2 victory. Pryce Thiessen tied the game early in the third before Konnor Watson scored the winner 48 seconds later.
