REGINA, Sask. — Saskatchewan's fall immunization campaign is underway, with free influenza and COVID-19 vaccines available beginning today for everyone six months of age and older.
Vaccines are available at Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) immunization clinics, participating pharmacies, and some physician and nurse practitioner offices throughout the province.
“Taking the time to get immunized is an important step in protecting your health and the health of those around you,” Minister of Health Jeremy Cockrill said. I encourage everyone to stay up to date on their immunizations and take this important step to protect themselves and their communities.”
Influenza and COVID-19 illnesses typically spread from fall to early spring, according to the Saskatchewan Health Authority. Getting vaccinated early is a safe and effective way to help you stay healthy and protected throughout respiratory illness this season, the SHA adds.

Influenza and COVID-19 vaccines can be safely received during the same visit, making it easier to get protected against Influenza and COVID-19 illness.
If you have a preferred pharmacy or clinic, please contact them to ensure they are offering influenza and COVID-19 vaccines, or immunization pharmacy maps.
While influenza and COVID-19 vaccines are recommended for everyone six months of age and older, vaccination is especially important for people at higher risk of serious illness or complications, including:
• adults aged 65 and older
• people with chronic health conditions or compromised immune systems
• pregnant individuals
• residents of personal care homes, long-term care, and chronic care facilities
• health-care workers and other care providers
For people 65 years of age and older, an enhanced influenza vaccine is available to help create a stronger immune response. Influenza vaccination is also particularly important for children six months to four years of age, who are at increased risk of serious illness and complications from influenza.
“Vaccination is one of the best ways we can protect ourselves, our families and our communities from influenza and COVID-19, SHA Medical Health Officer Dr. Vivian Onaemo said. With clinics, pharmacies and primary care providers offering vaccines across Saskatchewan, there are several ways to get protected. I encourage everyone who is eligible to get vaccinated early in the season, particularly those at higher risk of serious illness and their caregivers.”
