Saskatchewan’s manufacturing sector has once again found its stride.
The up-and-down world of manufacturing in an era defined by tariffs has made it tough on those in charge of factories throughout the country. Saskatchewan players were not immune as they navigated those choppy waters.
In the years after the pandemic this was a stalwart of the provincial economy: steadily churning out solid numbers and activity. But then 2025 and early 2026 were tougher as tariff uncertainty rose with Saskatchewan manufacturers seeing revenues stall or decline.
But now there are hints they have turned the corner.
Total sales or revenue figures for August have just been released showing the top line for Saskatchewan manufacturers improved by nearly 33 per cent compared to the lower levels they were dealing with in the past year. Compared to July, sales were flat but a gain of more than 30 per cent for the year was in the top three provincial report cards in the nation.
And the big gains were in Regina where top line sales grew by 50 per cent over a year ago.
