ROSTHERN, Sask. — The Town of Rosthern is hosting a grand opening of the Rosthern Water Treatment Plant on Saturday, Oct. 17, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., at 1280-4th Ave.
This event celebrates the completion of the town's new water treatment plant and raw water supply line. According to a press release the improvements are key components of a larger water infrastructure improvement project that will enhance the reliability, capacity and long-term sustainability of Rosthern's drinking water system.
The project was funded by the Government of Canada and the Government of Saskatchewan under the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program (ICIP) – Green Infrastructure Stream, together with the Town of Rosthern's contribution. This partnership has enabled significant investments in Rosthern's water infrastructure to better serve residents now and into the future, a town press release states.
The broader project includes:
- Construction of five new water wells
- A new water treatment plant with a larger water reservoir
- Installation of new raw water supply lines
- Integration of a new communications system
- Upgrades to existing well control buildings
- Demolition of the old water treatment plant and reservoir
While several project components remain ongoing, the completion of the Water Treatment Plant and supply line marks a major milestone for the community, the town states.
The grand opening will feature:
- Ribbon cutting ceremony at 11:30 a.m.
- Remarks from government partners and community leaders
- Guided public tours of the new facility
The public is invited to attend and learn more about the technology and processes that deliver safe, high-quality drinking water to homes and businesses throughout Rosthern.
