CANORA, SASK.- The new concert season in Canora is almost here.
The Fugitives, a staple in Canadian folk music, are set to perform at the Canora Composite School auditorium on Oct. 29 in the Stars for Saskatchewan Concert Series presented by the Canora Arts Council.
According to a release, The Fugitives have earned a reputation for unforgettable live shows, brimming with complex harmonies, infectious storytelling and top-notch musicianship. The Fugitives have been nominated for a Juno, as well as seven Canadian Folk Music Awards, continued the release, including Best Vocal Group, Best Ensemble, and Best Songwriter. They’ve performed at Glastonbury, were awarded Best Folk Album of the Year by the German Music Critics’ Association, and were named a 2020 Globe & Mail “Top Arts Pic of the Year.”
As the CBC has it: “This show is simply brilliant.” They are presently on tour in support of their seventh album, concluded the release.
In a change from previous seasons, admission in Canora will be paid at the door only from now on. Advance tickets are no longer available.
The second concert of the season on March 18 will feature Last Birds, a duo blending contemporary folk and traditional country music.
Taking over the stage for the third and final concert of the season on April 29 will be The Johner Brothers, Saskatchewan’s own award-winning performers.
