SASKATOON, Sask. — The Ukrainian Canadian Congress of Saskatchewan (UCC Saskatchewan) is now accepting nominations for the 2026 Nation Builders & Community Recognition Awards.
The program honours individuals who have made lasting contributions to the Ukrainian community, Saskatchewan and Canada.
Established in 1995, the program has honoured more than 320 individuals. Each year up to 10 people receive either a Nation Builders Award or a Community Recognition Award.
The Nation Builders Award recognizes people who have made a significant impact, provided noteworthy leadership, left a legacy and served as exemplary role models. Community Recognition Awards celebrate achievement in five areas: Creativity & Innovation; Cultural Preservation & Development; Leadership; Volunteerism; and Youth Achievement, for nominees under 30.
“Saskatchewan Ukrainians have been contributing to this province for more than a century; significantly and visibly playing a role in all aspects of its development,” said Danylo Puderak, executive director of UCC Saskatchewan.
“They are the nation-builders, notable cultural practitioners, leaders and volunteers recognized in all areas of our society.”
Nominees must have spent a significant part of their lives in Saskatchewan or made a significant part of their contribution while living in the province. Nominations are accepted from individuals and groups. A complete package includes the nomination form, a nomination statement of up to 400 words, the nominee’s biography and two letters of support.
Complete nomination packages must be postmarked or emailed by Wednesday, Nov. 18.
