GRENFELL, Sask. — Construction of the new Grenfell Long-Term Care (LTC) Home has reached 50 per cent completion.
Work to date includes completion of wood framing and progress toward completing exterior finishes and roofing. Work on the interior continues with drywalling underway. Site grading and concrete work are underway, with paving expected to be completed shortly.
"Achieving the halfway mark on the construction of the Grenfell Long-Term Care Home is a significant accomplishment and a clear sign of the strong and steady progress being made on this crucial project," SaskBuilds and Procurement Minister Sean Wilson said.
Located in the northeast corner of the town of Grenfell, the new 33-bed long-term care home will feature two spa tub rooms, a commercial kitchen, common living and dining spaces, administrative areas, a maintenance garage and parking stalls. The home will be owned and operated by the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA).
"This project reflects our shared commitment to ensuring seniors receive the right care, in the right place, at the right time, while remaining close to family, friends and community," Saskatchewan Health Authority Vice-President, Integrated Rural Health Brenda Schwan said.
"Reaching the halfway mark in construction is an exciting milestone toward delivering a modern, comfortable long-term care home for Grenfell and the surrounding area. Along with our partners from the Grenfell and District Health Foundation, we would like to thank SaskBuilds and Procurement and PCL Construction Management Inc. for their ongoing work in advancing this project."
Government funding of $40 million is allocated to the Grenfell LTC home, while the Town of Grenfell, the Grenfell and District Health Foundation (GDHF) and surrounding rural municipalities will contribute $4.9 million toward capital costs, furniture, fixtures and equipment.
"Reaching the halfway point in construction on this new long-term care home is a significant milestone for our community," Grenfell and District Health Foundation Chair Trevor Burnham said.
"This project reflects years of dedication, advocacy and generosity from individuals, families, businesses, volunteers and community partners across the Grenfell area. Seeing this vision take shape is a wonderful reminder of what can be accomplished when a community comes together, and we look forward to welcoming the first residents."
On-site work, led by PCL Construction Management Inc., began in July 2025 and substantial construction completion is anticipated in 2027.
