CANORA, SASK.- Cross Country Provincials 2026 were held at Table Mountain Regional Park, about 20 minutes outside of North Battleford on Oct. 17. The area was beautiful, but the running trail was extremely challenging with some pretty steep hills. After the walk through, one of our runners' Apple watch registered 21 flights of stairs, with the hill incline, and our 4km runners had to do that twice. The weather was sunny and warm, perfect for running without worrying about trying to keep the muscles warm.
Results are:
- Intermediate Boys 3km race – Karter Shukin, 29th out of 100 runners with a time of 13:23;
- Junior Boys 4km race – Reid Kitchen, 76th out of 100 runners with a time of 23:04;
- Junior Boys- William Sliva, 82nd with a time of 23:42; and
- Senior Girls 4km race – Kaelyn Shukin, 47th out of 100 runners with a time of 24:36.
When we head to a provincial race that is quite a distance away, we never really know what the trail is going to be like until we get there. As teachers/coaches, we are always wanting to challenge our students and athletes so they understand they can do hard things. This race did exactly that. It made them dig deep and grind it out all the way to the end.
We are so proud of each and every one of our runners. It's not always about being at the front of the pack or winning a medal. It's about living a healthy lifestyle, sticking to what you committed to do, and learning that when obstacles are put in front of you, you are capable of handling the hard things.
