The Saskatchewan Ministry of Agriculture announced the introduction of a new approach to leasing agricultural Crown land to producers.
In a news release, the Ag Ministry states starting November 9, "lease opportunities will be offered online through McDougall Auctioneers on an ongoing basis as they become available."
The Ag Ministry adds "the new approach creates a more responsive lease allocation process by offering eligible agricultural Crown land, including expired leases, as they become available, rather than through a single annual offering."
"Saskatchewan producers rely on access to agricultural Crown land to support their operations and grow their businesses," Agriculture Minister David Marit said. "By moving to an ongoing allocation model, we are providing a transparent and accessible process that better aligns lease opportunities with producer needs and supports a strong and competitive agriculture sector."
Interested bidders need to meet the eligibility requirements outlined on the Government of Saskatchewan website. Lease opportunities will be posted at saskatchewan.ca/crownlands and on mcdougallauction.com.
