Invermay School Staff always likes to host some fun little games for one period on the first day of school! We had many fun games such as a clothes pin cup relay. We also had a game of throwing a ball into hula hoops, and whichever team collects the most hula hoops wins. And the last game was pass the pillow race, where the team would pass a pillow one direction around a circle while a runner runs in the opposite direction.
This year we are pleased to have four volleyball teams: junior and senior girls, as well as junior and senior boys. All teams have been putting in time for practices as well as working hard to show off their skills. Here is how our Eagles have been doing.
Our Junior Girls had a tournament on Sept 26 in Yorkdale. They played hard which gave them a third place finish. Way to go girls!
Our Senior Girls have had many tournaments this year so far while traveling to Anaheim, Melville, and Wadena. The girls have really glued together as a team and have played hard and won some sets. Keep going girls!
Our Junior Boys had a home game against Preeceville on Sept. 28. The boys showed great skill and sportsmanship but came up short in all three sets. Keep working hard boys!
The Senior Boys have been quite busy this fall as well. They hosted a mini tournament on Sept. 21 and won first place. They also went to a tournament in Melville on Sept. 25 and 26. On Friday they came up short with all of their matches but on Saturday they turned things around. They won a couple of their matches to get into fourth place into their pool! They put up a good battle against Briercrest in the semifinals but they lost out. Keep going boys!
Invermay School’s other sports have been very active as well. The cross-country team has been practicing hard and have competed at two meets already this year! One was at Deer Park and the other was at the Saltcoats Autumn Summit. Here is each runner’s placement from the two meets:
Maxwell Dubas (U10) received an eighth place in Deer Park and a fifth place in Saltcoats.
Jake Koturbash (U11) finished 40th in Deer Park and 66th in Saltcoats.
Karson Enge (U12) finished 36th in Deer Park and 47th in Saltcoats.
Alyssa Mesias (U12) placed 19th in Deer Park and 30th in Saltcoats.
Aspen Salmond (U12) was 14th in Deer Park and 24th in Saltcoats.
Lexi Grona (U13) came in 17th in Deer Park and 26th in Saltcoats.
Brielle Enge (U14) earned a seventh-place finish in Deer Park and placed 17th in Saltcoats.
Congratulations to all runners, keep working hard!
Invermay School held their annual Terry Fox walk on Sept. 18. Our top pledge earners were Carson Wood, Sunny and Jessica Ke, and Lexi Grona. As a total we raised $1,195 to cancer research, way to go everyone!
Four of our SRC members, along with advisor Mrs. Diana Enge, had the wonderful opportunity to attend the Saskatchewan Student Leadership Conference (SSLC). Cassidy, Samantha, Taelynn, and Addison listened to multiple keynote speakers such as Ian Tyson, Shaun Boothe, and Tyler Smith. As well, the group got to meet a bunch of new kids from other schools with other ideas. They had a great time and can’t wait to use their knowledge for future Invermay School events!
