CANORA, SASK.- These little athletes worked so hard this season!
Students in Grade 3 and up are invited to participate in division competition, and for some Canora Junior Elementary School, the Deer Park Meet in Yorkton was their first experience at a cross-country tournament.
Conditions were beautiful at Deer Park on Sept. 21 as 24 CJES runners competed in the 2km race.
The fast course gave runners an excellent opportunity to challenge themselves, with some fantastic times recorded.
It was a great day to enjoy the outdoors, cheer on teammates, and represent CJES. Congratulations to all our runners on their efforts!
Times were only available for top 15 finishers.

Saltcoats
Another beautiful fall day provided the perfect setting for the Saltcoats Autumn Summit on Sept. 25. Approximately 800 runners from Grades 3 through 12 gathered to compete on a challenging, true cross-country course that put their endurance, strength, and determination to the test.
The course offered plenty of challenges, but none more demanding than the final stretch, where runners faced an incredibly steep uphill climb to the finish line. With tired legs and the finish line in sight, athletes had to dig deep and find that extra burst of energy to finish their 2km race strong.
CJE runners once again rose to the occasion, showing tremendous grit, perseverance, and determination as they tackled the demanding course. Their efforts were a true reflection of their hard work and dedication, making it another memorable day of cross-country running.

Jaycee Beach
On Oct. 7, CJES students headed to Jaycee Beach in Yorkton to compete in the District Cross-Country Tournament. It was an exciting day filled with determination, teamwork, and school spirit.
Our runners competed against students from other schools, putting their endurance and running skills to the test. Throughout the 2km races, our athletes pushed themselves to do their best and represented CJE with pride.
The event was a great opportunity for our runners to show off their hard work and dedication with many runners achieving a personal best time.
We are proud of all our runners for their effort and determination at districts and throughout the race season.

CJES Cross-Country Run
There was plenty of cheering at Canora Junior Elementary School on Oct. 21, as students took part in the school’s sixth annual Cross-Country Run. The course wound around the playground, with runners completing nine laps for a total of 2.25 kilometres.
To earn an invitation to the race, students had to attend practices and complete nine laps consistently throughout the season. Since runners younger than Grade 3 aren’t able to take part in divisional tournaments, coaches Mrs. Prychak, Mrs. Clemmenson, Mrs. Steciuk and Miss Kada once again hosted a local race to celebrate their hard work and commitment.
The team started the season with around 30 runners. Some joined to get active and improve their fitness, while others had their sights set on competing in tournaments. Whatever their goal, it was great to see their commitment throughout the season.
The race began at 1 p.m., with classes taking turns coming out to cheer on their classmates. A big thank-you to all the families who joined us to support their runners, too!
Most runners finished with new personal best times, and Chance Unick’s course record of 9:49, set last year, just barely held on!
We’re already looking forward to next season. To our Grade 4 runners moving on to compete with Canora Composite School next year, we wish you all the best. We’ll be cheering you on!
