SASKATOON, Sask. — Saskatchewan's only legally recognized online gaming platform is getting a replacement, with the Saskatchewan Indian Gaming Authority (SIGA) planning to launch BetSIGA in spring 2027.
SIGA has selected Bede Gaming to develop the new platform, which will replace PlayNow and be available through a responsive website and dedicated iOS and Android mobile apps.
The authority has operated PlayNow in Saskatchewan since November 2022. Existing players will be migrated to BetSIGA, which SIGA says will offer an enhanced online gaming experience tailored to Saskatchewan.
“BetSIGA is an important next step in SIGA’s long-term digital gaming strategy,” said SIGA president and CEO Zane Hansen.
“This will be our own platform, built with a partner that shares our commitment to safe, responsible and engaging play, and it will continue to share success with revenue distributed to support First Nation communities and Saskatchewan,” said Hansen.
Bede Gaming was selected following a competitive procurement process. SIGA said the partnership builds on its experience in online gaming while allowing the authority to develop its own branded platform.
The new platform will offer features designed to support player loyalty, personalization and integration with SIGA's broader gaming operations.
BetSIGA will be built on open, modular technology designed to adapt to changing player expectations, regulatory requirements and SIGA's long-term digital strategy.
It is also expected to create opportunities to connect online gaming with SIGA's broader operations through data, loyalty and personalized player experiences.
SIGA said safe and responsible gaming will remain central to the platform, which will incorporate identity verification, geolocation, anti-money laundering measures, security features, player protection and responsible gaming controls.
Bede Gaming CEO Colin Cole-Johnson said the partnership combines technology and industry expertise with operational collaboration to support SIGA's plans.
“This partnership extends far beyond technology implementation,” said Cole-Johnson.
“It represents a significant opportunity to combine trusted technology, deep sector expertise and true operational collaboration. SIGA has a clear and ambitious vision for the future of gaming in Saskatchewan, and we are proud to support the team in building a connected digital ecosystem that will deliver exceptional player experiences and sustainable long-term value.”
SIGA said the move to BetSIGA represents the next phase of its digital gaming strategy, with the new platform intended to support future growth while continuing to direct gaming revenues toward First Nations communities and Saskatchewan.
