The Warman Wolverines continue to hold down the top spot in this week's SJHL Power Rankings, but the Melville Millionaires are making a strong push near the top.
Melville moves into second place after an impressive stretch of hockey, followed by the Melfort Mustangs in third. The Flin Flon Bombers and Weyburn Red Wings round out the top five.
The Millionaires are coming off a convincing 6-1 victory over Warman on Tuesday night, improving their record to 10 wins, four losses and one shootout loss. Melville has also been the league's toughest team to score against, allowing just 31 goals through 15 games. That's the fewest in the SJHL.
Goaltender Noah Kraus has been a major part of that success. He has nine wins, a 1.73 goals-against average and a .951 save percentage, putting him among the league's top goaltenders.
Melfort and Flin Flon are both right there with Melville, each carrying 10 wins and 21 points. The Mustangs have surrendered just 36 goals, while the Bombers have scored 56.
Weyburn sits fifth and continues to bring plenty of offence, leading the league with 73 goals in 17 games. Nipawin is sixth, and the Hawks have two of the league's biggest offensive threats. Brock Evans leads the SJHL scoring race with 23 points, while Mason Karakochuk tops the goal-scoring chart with 16.
Humboldt is seventh, followed by Yorkton in eighth. Terriers forward Tyson Medernach is among the league's top 20 scorers with 16 points.
Kindersley checks in at ninth, Estevan is 10th, Battlefords sits 11th and La Ronge rounds out the rankings.
